Dear castor customerThe following information on castors and wheels must be observed within the framework of the manufacturer’s liability for its products defined in the Product Liability Act (§ 1 Product Liability Act). Non-compliance may reduce the manufacturer’s liability.
Product information and intended use
Wheels and castors within the meaning of this definition are component which are in general replaceable and are attached to devices, furniture and transport systems intended for this purpose or to associated products to ensure their mobility. Our wheels and castors can be used for vehicles and equipment that is not mechanically moved, in the following referred to as objects, that are moved at the most at walking speed and not in continuous operation. They can be divided into the following areas of application:
Living area:
F. ex. household furniture, stereo furniture, tea trolleys
Service area:
F. ex. office equipment, computer tables, mobile files
The intended use particularly involves professional assembly:
1. The product must be firmly attached to the object at the intended points.
2. The object must be sufficiently strong at these areas.
3. The function of the product must not be impaired or modified by the assembly.
4. Castors must be assembled with a vertically adjusted swivel axle.
5. Fixed castors must be assembled with their wheel axles in alignment.
6. Castors of the same type must be used for one object. If fixed castors are also assembled, only the castors recommended by the manufacturer for this purpose must be used.
Specially designed products must be specified for damp locations, direct exposure to the weather, near the sea or for use in aggressive environments promoting corrosion. Specially designed products must be specified for usage at a temperature range below 5°C and above 30°C. Under these circumstances, standard products must not be used in any case at nominal load.
Please note: Castors with soft treads should not be used on unsealed and absorbent underground, such as stone or parquet flooring. The white oil that is contained for production purposes may leak, infiltrate the floor and leave stains. On sealed floors, this oil will evaporate without residues.
Wheel, case, locking device and axle accessories form a functional unit. We assume liability only for our original products.
When selecting the castors or wheels, all loads must be known. Otherwise such loads must be estimated with sufficient security margins.
Incorrect use
Incorrect use – i.e. the use of wheels and castors contrary to their intended use – means for example that:
1. the wheels and castors are used with a higher loading capacity than the maximum load carrying capacity indicated in this catalogue,
2. they are used on an unsuitable and uneven floor,
3. the ambient temperatures are too high or too low,
4. a device with locked castors is moved with force,
5. particularly aggressive media can act,
6. inappropriately rough impact and falling load is exercised,
7. foreign bodies can enter the wrapping,
8. the wheels and castors are used with excess speed,
9. modifications are made that have not been agreed with the manufacturer.
Apart from that, the user is responsible to verify that our products are suitable for his applications.
Product performance
The requirements placed on our castors and/or their components must be agreed with us. This shall apply in particular if the product performance is not specifically determined in our catalogues.
Product maintenance
Wheels and castors must be maintained in regular intervals, if necessary, in particular by re-greasing the points of support and by re-tightening of detachable connections. Only cleaning agents may be used that do not contain corrosion-stimulating or harmful components. Castors and/or their components must be replaced in particular as soon as the first malfunctions occur.
